The Spice of Life

Your Review :
Dear All - I was very fortunate to attend THE SPICE OF LIFE show at Lowther Pavilion whilst on holiday in Lytham for a few days last week. I wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed every aspect of the show, the diversity, the class of performance, the variety, the humour, the poignancy and the fun. It was absolutely BRILLIANT. You have an incredibly talented team of artists, players, singers, actors, dancers and supporting production - all under expert leadership. All of the performers gave everything to their parts in the show and I truly hope that the rest of the week was an incredible and rousing success. I was saddened that I unfortunately missed seeing THE FULL MONTY which was on later in the week, as no doubt even more comedic skills would be shown not to mention even more talent "revealed" LOL. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU again for such a wonderful show and I wish you every success in the future and hope to see many more of your productions when I visit Lytham at some point in the future

The Full Monty (The Musical)

Your Review :
The good lady and myself took her parents to see The Full Monty at Lowther Gardens on Saturday - What a fantastic show! Please give our greatest thanks to the Production Team and, more especially the Cast who were outstanding! At the end of the show it was evident that the Cast enjoyed the performance as much as the audience! - Absolutely BRILLIANT!

Favourite Character and/or Song:
The lead character was confident and full of character and, bless him, Horse reminded me of that brilliant character portrayal in "The Green Mile", but with humour!

Your Review :
This was a first-class production on Thursday night at the Lowther Pavilion, Lytham. The players were able to present Lionel Bart's 'Oliver' to a very high standard. Character portrayals were very convincing as the cast got into their parts. The children were wonderful, the dog delightful and the mechanical cat riveting. Fagin as usual stole the show, but was closely chased by a wonderful youthful Nancy and a very greedy Beedle. The richness of the creation came across with with Edward Rugman's musical direction from the Pit. The musicians were highly trained to Conservatoire standards and the instrumentation gave a depth to the music which is usually absent in amateur productions. In particular we noted the basoon comic depiction of Mr Bumble, the plaintive horn of the flower sellers and the wonderful solo violin depicting Fagin's mournful past and poor future.
Lionel Bart gave us the wonderful pastiche of East End Jewish music, which haunts and skirls throughout with!
It's insistent rhythms all backed-up with the familiar Victorian music-hall colourful spectacle and oompa music. This was a remarkable production and one to remember.
